DHL Innovation Center gives ISM students exclusive insights into logistics megatrends
DHL operates four logistics facilities worldwide that are dedicated to innovation and development. The DHL Innovation Center in Troisdorf is the only one of its kind in Europe and is generally only open to selected DHL customers. Due to the network of ISM university lecturers for logistics, Prof. Dr. Christoph Feldmann (Frankfurt) and Prof. Dr. Dagmar Tomanek (Hamburg) their students also had the opportunity to visit the facility and to see the innovative capacity of logistics companies in person.
For logistics student Lukas Dickgießer, the excursion was a unique opportunity to look behind the scenes of global logistics and gain first-hand knowledge, in particular since the industry experts were available on site to answer the students' questions. The students did not only see promising logistics solutions in Troisdorf, they were also able to try them out for themselves. Whether it was a robot suit for lifting heavy loads or the latest developments in "Touch & Feel" sensor technology - there was plenty to discover at the DHL Innovation Center. Lukas Dickgießer is convinced of the benefits of such study trips: “Our lectures are already oriented towards practical use, but excursions like this put them into an even more realistic context.” Another highlight was the conversation with the DHL recruiting team. The team devoted plenty of time to inform the ISM students about career prospects and entry-level opportunities via internships, traineeships and direct entry at DHL. "This demonstrates the value placed on future employees and tells me that I chose the right course of study."
