If you would like to apply as an exchange student at ISM, you need to give a short notice to the ISM International Office as well as the International Office of your home institution, so that we can jointly organize your exchange semester with us.
Please apply online and register with your email and password. The password you choose has to contain at least 8 characters, including capital letters, numbers and special characters (./-@...). Please do not forget your password!
Application Process
During the online application process the following files will be requested:
- Picture of your face like a passport picture (this is used for your ISM student ID card) (as jpeg)
- Scanned copy of your passport/ID card (as pdf)
- Academic record/transcript (as pdf)
Not mandatory yet, but later needed:
- Proof of an international health insurance (for example the European Health Insurance Card). If you already have one, you can already upload a copy (as PDF) here.
- Proof of your language level (English-level B2 or German-level B2, depending on the language in which your classes are taught) (as PDF)
Please save every section you have filled out (Button: "save progress"). The upload of the document is sometimes very slowly and you have to reload the page again (If you do not save each section, you will lose your data).
After the application data has been submitted online, your application will be created as a PDF-Document. Please send this document via email to Carolin Krabs (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.).
Application deadlines:
- For the winter semester: 15th of April
- For the summer semester: 15th of November
Language Requirements
The ISM has the following language requirements for admitting international students:
- Students whose mother tongue is not English and who wish to enroll in English taught classes should ask a language instructor at their home institution to assess their English skills.
- Students who would like to participate in courses of the German Bachelor program must provide sufficient proof of their German language skills, certified at upper-intermediate level (minimum B2). In addition we strongly recommend to participate in the 3-week intensive German language course (advanced level) prior to semester start.
